PRESENTATION COUNTS IN FOOD AND ART

01.12.2010

Now I’ve never been to the Ocean Beach Hotel though their food looks very tasty and that’s the idea. It’s the presentation that makes it look tasty. Eric is actually a great cook who cares about presentation so I’m pretty lucky since I am presented meals fit for royalty. I think prevention is important and makes a huge difference in a meal.

The white plates in this image really help with presentation. I know my plates are pretty decorative and perhaps a bit odd, or shall we say adventurous, but I sure hope there some collectors out there are using them on a regular basis. My plates are all food and dishwasher safe so go for it. Oh yeah send over some of that Ocean Beach Hotel food for me too! Yummm…

IT’S ONE THING TO DREAM THIS

“To see far is one thing, going there is another”
-Constantin Brancusi

To me this is very pertinent to my current situation with ceramics. I would ideally love to be able to make a living solely from my ceramics. It’s one thing to dream this, it’s certainly another thing entirely to make this happen. Creating these pieces is one thing, participating in shows, fulfilling orders, updating websites and tracking finances is another. So many skills are required.

I’m very lucky to be surrounded by a very supportive group of people…and there is no way I could do this without the help of my amazing husband who works equally as hard helping out with packing, shipping, calling and organizing. Plus, Sue Roberts who helped push me forward with her teaching and energizing spirit. Thank you everyone, there are many of you. I think I’m on my way, well on my way. Whoohoo! :)
