Tomorrow is the first day of the Girdwood Forest Fair. The fair is open from 11-8 tomorrow. This is my first year at the fair and I’m excited to be here. I’m at booth number 112, which is across from the Fire Hall. I have lots of new bowls and mugs. I also have prints and cards for sale. If you haven’t been to Girdwood, or it’s been a while, I’d highly recommend a visit. It really looks like it’s going to be fun time.

THE SPENARD JAZZFEST STARTS THIS SATURDAY!
06.01.2011Welcome to Spenard JazzFest 2011 !

We are hereby presenting to you :
10 days of local, cool, trendy, high quality performing arts!
Spenard is like no other neighborhood in Anchorage.
Spenard JazzFest is like no other festival.
Being new to Spenard and Anchorage in general I don’t know much about the Jazzfest. Here’s what Yngvil Vatn Guttu, the Festival’s Director has to say:
The hood has a peculiar draw on creative types:
If you have a cool or quirky idea you can make it happen here:
Folks who live and work here know
No one will stop you. And – if you build it … you guessed it…
In the last 4 years we have been galvanizing the arts community.
We invite people with ideas to come to us and make it happen.
Our recipe : creativity and collaboration.
We’re building it – and here they come:
The painters, the poets, the dancers, the DJs, the movie buffs and the movement Improvisers, we even have a visiting jazz chef !
The local business community, stores, cafe’s and restaurants are opening their doors to host events and to support us in other ways. Adding to Spenard neighborhood venues SJF is also taking place Downtown, Midtown and in East Anchorage.
Spenard JazzFest 2011 is the biggest; coolest ever – it is really a 10 day jam session.
Whether your thing is hip hop or hands on workshops – swing jazz or slam poetry – good food or good films, lunchtime shopping or late night loungin’ – Spenard JazzFest has something for you!
Check Us Out! Come Play with Us – Be A Part Of It !
