A LITTLE GLIMPSE INTO MY DAY

03.22.2011

Our home is surrounded by these big beautiful trees, which have a tonne of birds in them. The dogs and I enjoy listening to them in the morning.

Miss Taupin. A very smart and agile little lady, much to the chagrin of her older brother, poor Atlas.

I do not enjoy having my photo taken, never have, not sure I ever will. People who know me know this.

Erin is an incredible artist. More of her work can be seen at The Upstairs Studio. Erin makes puppets and does fun illustrations filled with emotion. I'm very excited to be working on a collaboration with Erin at the moment.

Here's one of Erin's puppets. This image really doesn't do the piece justice. Another good reason to stop by the studio on this upcoming First Friday.

I decided to go on a First Friday Art Walk tour this past week. The folks at Back Alley Arts were very welcoming. I'd recommend stopping by. It's in the back of a great wine store.

Atlas is our favorite dog. I'm just being truthful. Taupin is smarter and more agile and has no health problems. Very different from Atlas. Atlas however is the most faithful, loving dog a person could have. Poor Atlas.

This is what a very messy desk looks like when one relocates to Anchorage and enjoys collecting paper.

THERE ARE POLAR BEARS IN ALASKA

03.22.2011

Yep it’s true. They are everywhere up here. They are on most every street corner trying to bum cigarettes and are always digging through the garbage looking for a few quarters to keep up with their gambling problems. You should see them at the dog track. Geez. Darn bears.

WE RELOCATED TO ALASKA!

03.21.2011

We have moved to Alaska! So much to tell you about!

We just moved to Anchorage a little over a month ago and there is so much to tell! Firstly..Anchorage is a happening town. I kid you not!

I can not believe all of the incredibly kind, welcoming, creative and talented people I have met, in such a short time. I don’t think I’ll go into as much detail as I would like to (in this post) but just you wait. I have so much to share with you about Alaska…about Alaska and the arts and ceramics in this area.

I’m happy to say I have met my people and found a kiln  (actually 2 kilns and a timer). I’ve also found a downtown studio space, shared with 9 other really talented artists. The name of the space is The Upstairs Studio. The space is great, equipped with a gallery space, comfy seating in a common artist’s space, 2 fridges and a great group of women.  The gallery participates in First Friday’s and I highly recommend checking them out. The artists involved are an active, motivated group of contemporary artists.
